Car Story

Staging Requirements

Space

A school hall or drama studio with a performance area of at least 6 square metres, with additional space 150 pupils to sit.  Please note that sports halls and gyms are not suitable for the production and in school halls we prefer not to use the traditionally defined raised stage area.

Get-In/Access

The company needs an hour set-up and preparation time in the school hall, prior to the performance start time.

We will bring a full set and technical equipment with us, so clear and easy access to the space is preferable. If the hall is situated a long way from where the van can be parked, or is not on ground level, please inform us in advance.

Seating

Ensure there are enough chairs for each member of the audience (the audience should not sit on the floor). Do not set chairs: leave them stacked near the space. The company will explain to the contact teacher where the audience should sit in relation to the performance area, but generally the performance will be 'in the round'. If possible, the company would be grateful for help setting up the chairs from either a caretaker or supervised pupils.

Supervision

Adequate supervising and/or teaching staff appropriate for the size of the student audience should attend the performance. As a guide, this would be one member of staff per class of students.
