Manchester Roots

This project is intended to train teachers and help schools to deliver road safety education within their drama activities, in both primary and secondary schools.

The principal aim of the project is changing the attitude and behaviour of children and young people aged 7 to 16 years as road users.

Duration of project : June 2005 – March 2006

 

The Team

Project Director : Ant Tyler

Anthony's previous credits with Box Clever include. "Something Beautiful", "Twelfth Night", "Car Story" and "Driving Miss Daisy", he has also directed the "Bexley Buzz" and "Halton Roots" special projects. His theatre credits include "Christie in Love", "Macbeth" and "Othello" with Asylum and "Something Sexy Inbetween" with The Economical Truth. His film credits include "the Importance of being Ernest" and "Thunderpants" and his TV work includes roles in "Footballers Wive's" and "Chambers".

Project Manager : Alice Bartlett

Alice began her professional career as a ventriloquist in Las Vegas, before graduating from Manchester University with a drama degree in 1998. Since then she has been resident Assistant Director at West Yorkshire Playhouse and Associate Director at Harrogate Theatre and most recently Basingstoke Haymarket. In the past 6 years she has directed over 50 productions of all shapes and sizes for companies including Basingstoke Haymarket, Bolton Octagon, Bradford Alhambra, Contact Theatre, Harrogate Theatre, Hull Truck and Wakefield Theatre Royal. Alice has also written 2 plays - Such a Curious Dream and Silence of a Dale- and has recently adapted the latter into a film for BBC television.

 

Workshop Leader / Trainer : Jason Webb

 

Jason worked with Box Clever on the Shakespeare Workbox tour 2004. This involved delivering workshops on Twelfth Night, Romeo and Juliet and Macbeth. Previous work as Assistant Director includes The Smallest Person for Trestle Theatre Company, A Christmas Carol at The Riverside Theatre Colraine. Directing credits include Runaways, a musical for Mountview Theatre School, It Could Be You for Key Ties Theatre Company and Home Run - a short film for Magpie Films.
