The 'Pender' Project

Michael is writer in residence and Artistic Director of Box Clever Theatre Company. He graduated in History; studied Film and Theatre in Poland before training as a theatre director at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. Michael has an MA in writing for film and television. He founded Box Clever as a company dedicated to new writing and new ways of working with colleagues in Health and Education.

Originally from Belfast, Jules Maxwell is a composer and songwriter. He has worked on a wide variety of projects for theatre, dance and film, as well as composing music for fireworks displays, carnival parades, weddings and birthdays. He loves finding inexperienced and unexpected people to sing and write with wherever he goes.

Carl is an artist and film maker. He has been involved in various community and socially engaged arts projects including a video with children with physical disabilities, a video with children from Finsbury Park Homeless families unit and an installation with a mother and toddlers group in West Bromwich. His own films have been shown internationally and have won prizes in Manila, London, Italy and Portugal..

Maya has experience of working in both the health service (on emotional and psychological well-being) and in the arts and health field, she is also a musician. She is therefore well-placed to act as a liaison between patients, staff and the Box Clever artists..
